Gopak sniper rifle (Ukrainian: «Гопак» – Гвинтiвка оперативна портативна на базi АК; Portable AK-based rifle) is produced by Ukrainian factory “Mayak”. Apparently intended for short range clandestine and urban work, this weapon is nothing more than an old, Soviet-made AKM rifle with removed gas system, added sound suppressor and a new stock.
Gopak sniper rifle is a manually operated, straight-pull weapon utilizing Kalashnikov-type bolt group with rotary bolt, and Kalashnikov AKM receiver. Barrel is fitted with removable sound suppressor (silencer), and a new bipod and shoulder stock are added to the mix. Rifle features no iron sights, and the rear sight is replaced by a short length of the Picatinny rail.
